Travel Vaccine FAQs — Hounslow Travel Clinic
Answers to the most common questions we receive about travel vaccinations, booking, and our services.
How do I book a travel vaccination appointment? ▾
You can book online 24/7 using our booking widget on this website — same-day slots are often available. Alternatively, call us on 020 8456 7890.
What should I bring to my appointment? ▾
Please bring your passport or ID, a list of your travel destinations and dates, and your vaccination history if you have it. If you take regular medication, bring a list of those too.
How much do travel vaccines cost? ▾
Prices vary by vaccine. Most single-dose vaccines start from around £45.
Can I get travel vaccines on the NHS? ▾
The NHS only funds certain travel vaccines in specific circumstances (e.g. Hepatitis A and Typhoid for some high-risk destinations). Most travel vaccines — including Rabies, Japanese Encephalitis, and antimalarials — must be obtained privately.
How far in advance should I get vaccinated before travel? ▾
We recommend booking at least 4–6 weeks before departure, as some vaccines require multiple doses over several weeks. However, we offer same-day appointments and can often provide protection at short notice.
Do children need travel vaccines? ▾
Yes — children are often more vulnerable to travel-related illnesses. Most travel vaccines can be given to children over a certain age. We will advise on age-appropriate vaccines during your consultation.
Can I get vaccinated during pregnancy? ▾
Some vaccines are safe during pregnancy; others are not recommended. Please inform us if you are pregnant when booking, and we will advise you on the safest options.
Do I need a certificate for any vaccines? ▾
Yellow fever is the only vaccine that requires an official International Certificate of Vaccination. This must be issued by an approved yellow fever vaccination centre. We can refer you to an approved centre nearby.
What antimalarials do you offer? ▾
We offer a full range of prescription antimalarials including Doxycycline, Malarone (Atovaquone/Proguanil), and Mefloquine. Visit our antimalarials page for more information.
